Tella Thera is a newly completed boutique hotel in Kissamos, fully designed and constructed by Hellenic Homes in collaboration with Pieris Architects. The original concept and hospitality planning were developed by Ble Collection, with the aim of creating a high-end yet landscape-sensitive experience. The project is inspired by the yposkafa tradition of carved dwellings, with 21 units — including suites and a signature villa — embedded into the natural slope of the hillside. Arranged amphitheatrically, the structures follow the terrain to ensure unobstructed sea views, natural shading and full integration into the landscape.
Every element of the hotel was built with a focus on sustainability and longevity. Stone, wood and other local materials were used throughout, while all units feature green roofs planted with olive trees for natural insulation and minimal visual impact. The building shell, interior finishes and outdoor areas were delivered fully completed by Hellenic Homes, including all custom carpentry, plastering, waterproofing and surrounding landscaping.
Advanced energy systems were installed to support off-grid functionality, including photovoltaic panels and geothermal infrastructure for heating and cooling. Shared facilities such as the spa, gym, restaurant and lounge areas were built into the flow of the terrain, with minimal intervention and a strong emphasis on bioclimatic design. This project not only meets high hospitality standards but also stands as an example of how contemporary architecture can work in harmony with the Cretan landscape.

Location
