At a glance

A long-term hospitality project fully designed, constructed and later redeveloped by Hellenic Homes. From the original foundation through to its complete refurbishment and expansion, every development stage of Althea Village was undertaken by our team. Initially designed as a village-style low-rise resort, the property aimed to accommodate seasonal tourism in a quiet, landscaped setting near Chania. The layout used small building clusters to create privacy, ease of movement and natural integration with green outdoor spaces.

In later stages, Hellenic Homes carried out a full renovation of existing buildings and developed two new accommodation wings: a superior suite section and a family unit block. Each phase involved structural work, MEP installations, premium finishes and coordinated landscaping solutions.

Today, the property operates as a mid-scale resort with 165 rooms across various categories. It features updated infrastructure, increased capacity and reconfigured public areas for better operational efficiency and guest experience. The architectural style remains true to its Cretan roots while integrating modern hospitality standards.

Location

Althea Village is located in Kato Daratso, just 4 km west of Chania. Set within a quiet residential area, the hotel is surrounded by gardens and is approximately 600 m from Agioi Apostoloi beach. Guests enjoy direct access to local shops, tavernas and public transport routes, with a bus stop connecting to Chania city nearby.

The location strikes a balance between tranquility and convenience, offering both relaxed holiday living and proximity to some of Chania’s most popular coastal spots.
