Airports: Crete is serviced by two International airports (Chania and Heraklion).

  1. Chania International Airport (CHQ) is 14km east of Chania.
    Busses depart regularly from Chania airport to Chania center (journey time approximately 30 minutes). Taxis are readily available.
    Both short term and long term parking is available.

  2. Heraklion International Airport (HER) is 5km east of Heraklion.
    Busses depart every 5 minutes from Heraklion airport to Heraklion centre (journey time approximately 10 minutes). Taxis are readily available. Parking is free.

Airlines which fly to Crete’s airports are from Aegean Airlines, Air Berlin, Alitalia, RyanAir, JetairFly, Cyprus Airways, Czech Airlines, EasyJet, Iberia, Monarch, Novair, Olympic Air, Luxair, Sky Express, Thomas Cook Airlines, Condor, Thomson Airways, Austrian Airlines, Transavia, TUIFly and XL Airways.

Harbors/Ports:

There are 2 main harbors on Crete. These are the Souda Bay harbor and the Heraklion harbor. Rethymno, Agios Nikolaos and Sitia also have harbors however these are smaller. Harbors found along the south coast of the island service smaller coastal towns such as Chora Sfakion, Loutro, Agia Roumeli and Paleochora.
Most travelling by ferry departing from the mainland, depart from Piraeus port (daily ferries to Crete). Ferries and catamarans are also available to and from Santorini and other Cyclades islands. Githio, Kythira and Antikythira also connect via ferry to Kissamos (Kasteli port).
